Bass String Lengths by Manufacturer
Every string manufacturer has their own set "Winding Length" for each "Scale Length" of electric bass strings. The "Winding Length" is the measurement of the string from the Back of the Ball End to Silk or to the First Taper on strings with no silk where the string starts to get thinner (B / E / A strings). Please note string lengths may vary in some cases where strings are handmade or hand wrapped with silk. Winding Lengths listed by Brand.

• Long Scale = 37.5" Ball to Taper

D'Addario Bass String Winding Length:
• Short Scale = 32" Ball to Taper (or Silk)
• Medium Scale = 34" Ball to Taper (or Silk)
• Long Scale = 36.25" Ball to Taper (or Silk)
• Super Long Scale = 38" Ball to Taper (or Silk)

Fender Bass String Winding Length:
• Short Scale = 32" Ball to Taper
• Medium Scale = 34" Ball to Taper
• Long Scale = 36.5" Ball to Taper

Fodera Bass String Winding Length:
• Long Scale = 37.5" Ball to Taper
• Extra Long Scale = 39.25" Ball to Taper

GHS Bass String Winding Length:
• Short Scale: 32" Ball to Taper (or Silk)
• Medium Scale: 34" Ball to Taper (or Silk)
• Long Scale: 36.5" Ball to Taper (or Silk)
• Long Plus: 38" Ball to Taper (or Silk)

Ken Smith Bass String Winding Length:
• Long Scale = 38" Ball to Silk
• Extra Long Scale = 40" Ball to Silk
• For some B strings there is a "Medium Scale" option = 36.5" Ball to Silk

La Bella Bass String Winding Length:
• Short Scale = 32" Ball to Silk
• Medium Scale = 34" Ball to Silk
• Long Scale = 37" Ball to Silk
• Extra Long Scale = 38" Ball to Silk

Hofner Beatle Bass = 34" Ball to Silk

MTD Bass String Winding Length:
• Long Scale = 37.25" Ball to Silk

R.Cocco Bass String Winding Length:
• Long Scale = 37" Ball to Taper
• Extra Long Scale = 39" Ball to Taper
